The gorgeous century old historic 14 foot altar is all original and in wonderful condition saved from the Zion Norwegian Lutheran Church in Towner North Dakota.
The altar painting is an original oil on canvas done by the late Norwegian artist, Arne Berger dated 1926, whose work is featured in museums from Norway to the Smithsonian. We feel honored to have it displayed at Angels of the Prairie! The baptismal, pulpit and stained glass windows are also from the same congregation!
Around noon, the sun beams through the 120 year old colored glass, just as it did back then!
The history of this beautiful religious set is well documented in the centennial book from the Lutheran North Dakota congregation and found in our Chapel. This includes over a century of weddings, baptisms and prayers in front of this historic altar!
Angels of the Prairie is open to all Christian denominations.
